Animal Crush Videos Producers Wanted

MANILA, Philippines Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has announced that it will offer a P100,000 cash reward for any information that may lead to the arrest of the couple believed to be behind animal torture videos.

The suspects, identified as Dorma "Chita" Rieon and her husband Vic Rieon, are facing charges for violating Section 6 of Republic Act (RA) 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 and Section 9 of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act in January 2011.

The National Bureau of Investigation earlier identified the suspects behind the crush videos, which showed kittens, puppies, mice, rabbits, and other animals being tortured and killed by women.

Girls on the video clips crush the animals under their high heels or sit on them. Some animals are skinned alive. Authorities said the act is a type of sexual perversion.

The videos are sold to foreign clients who are able to choose what type of animal they want the girls to kill. Clients also dictate what attire the girls should wear during the act.

The suspects charge their clients between $25 to $1,000 each.

Buhay party-list Rep. Irwin Tieng has filed House Bill 4595 that would criminalize the sale of "crush videos" and other filmed acts of animal cruelty.

If passed, violators can be imprisoned for up to 7 years, fined up to P300,000, or both.
